Anti Aging Supplements Help from the Inside Out
Many of us, as we approach our 40s, 50s and beyond, begin to wonder about possible ways to slow or reverse the aging process. A popular method for doing this is the use of anti aging supplements. That being said, there can be some confusion about what anti aging supplements actually do, and what it means for someone to be using an anti aging supplement. Here’s a little bit about what anti-aging supplements are and what they can and cannot do for you.
Types of Anti Aging Supplements
Anti aging supplements are usually found in pill form, as vitamins, or as a variety of topical cream. These supplements will not necessarily be advertised as anti aging, but will contain ingredients that are intended to retard or reverse the aging process.
What is in Anti Aging Supplements?
There is no standard measure for what should or should not be in an anti aging supplement. There is fairly widespread disagreement over the efficacy of any anti aging product, so it is impossible to standardize what ingredients need to be in these products. Some items commonly sold for their anti aging properties are or contain forms of Vitamin C, Vitamin E and lipoic acid.
Antioxidants and Anti Aging
What the above have in common is that they are all forms of antioxidant supplements. Antioxidants have been extremely promising in health and aging related research. Their function is to bind to free radicals, rogue oxygen molecules that can move throughout your body causing damage to your organs. The antioxidants trap these molecules and reduce this damage. Many believe that this process can help ward off cancer and heart disease, improve general health, and reduce both the internal signs of aging and the visible signs, such as wrinkling skin.
What Anti Aging Supplements Do
There is currently no evidence that suggests that the right combination of anti aging supplements will make you grow younger or allow you to live forever. That being said, many people report feeling stronger and better through a continued course of antioxidant supplements. Furthermore, certain skin creams containing antioxidants can produce amazing results in some people when used consistently and in the right concentrations. Some people who use antioxidant creams may look almost twenty years younger than their actual ages, and whether it is due to their new youthful appearance or other properties of the antioxidants, they probably feel younger as well.
Using Anti-Aging Supplements with Antioxidants
All antioxidant formulations aren’t the same. Using any antioxidant products may be helpful, but only the right concentration of the right antioxidants, derived through meticulous scientific research, will be what you will want to use on and in your own body. You should definitely consider using antioxidant based supplements as part of an overall health system, but do your research first. Make sure you’re using products that you feel comfortable with, and that the literature favors as a viable approach to fighting the effects of age. When you find the right products, the results can truly be miraculous.
